My name is Jannelle Nevels. I am from Dominican Republic and immigrated to this country when I was 3 years old. My parents left behind all they knew in search of “the American Dream”. A good education for their children made all of their sacrifices worth it! I did get a great education and went on to get a Mechanical Engineering degree, but the Lord had a different plan!
I have been married to my husband for the last 17 years. We had our first son 13 years ago and since then the Lord has called our family to home educate. We now have 6 children, 4 boys and 2 girls. Our vision in educating them is, not to meet “school standards” or to fill them with facts and information. Instead, we are preparing them to live a life where their desire is to serve and glorify God and in doing so offer their gifts and talents for the edifying of God’s Kingdom. We are raising them to have hearts of service. As we educate them, we hope to increase their curiosity of the world and help them to fall in love with learning and make learning a lifelong journey.
Our family is very energetic, we are ALL very talkative, sometimes loud. We love people and are very outgoing! We enjoy reading and learning, cooking and baking, swimming, biking, camping and much more!! Follow our stories, projects, joys and struggles as we homeschool. Most importantly, find ideas and resources you can use to further enrich your own family’s learning experience. Feel free to share you own ideas or comments you think may benefit others.
